A student work from Ruslan Kudashov's directing course — a dynamic piece based on Chekhov's comedy, assembled from sketches, visual metaphors and contemporary rhythms.
The Seagulls is a student work from Ruslan Kudashov's directing course. You won't find the usual clichés associated with Chekhov's dramaturgy, meaningful pauses or unhurried dialogues here. Because this is not The Seagull — it's The Seagulls!
The piece based on Chekhov's comedy is dynamic, assembled from sketches and unexpected discoveries, visual metaphors, contemporary rhythms and images. Familiar characters and plot lines are mixed together and filtered through the poetic yet grotesque language of puppet theatre.
All of this creates an atmosphere of playing with the classics, with "decadent delirium" and "new forms."
